Kevyn Aucoin, directed by Lori Kaye, triumphs at the Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, winning an Emmy Award in the Outstanding special Class special category.
Organised by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and honouring daytime television programming crafts, the show was held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
A personal and touching portrait of renowned makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin, the film bested five other films to take home the prize. Filled with depth and including never-before-seen footage from Kevyn’s personal life and career, Kevyn Aucoin-Beauty & The Beast in Me tells the story of a phenomenal artistic gift nearly extinguished by gay persecution in his southern hometown. The documentary provides rare access into the life of a talented artist who, while managing to create so much beauty, he still struggled to see the beauty within himself.
