Commander Arian Premieres at HotDocs

The feature-length documentary following Commander Arian and her female fighters on their mission through war-torn Syria, Commander Arian, will premiere at this year’s HotDocs Film Festival in Canada.

North America’s largest documentary film festival celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and will screen over 200 films from 26 April to 6 May.

Recovering not only from physical wounds of the war, Arian and her female troops find themselves on a greater mission while fighting for their country’s future. Alba Sotorra’s film takes the audience on the empowering journey of Arian’s battle for freedom, equality and women’s rights in a country under ISIS’ siege for the liberation of the next generation of women.

Other films by Dogwoof screened in Toronto include Have You Seen The Listers?, MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. and The Deminer.
