City of Ghosts Wins at the Directors Guild Awards

City of Ghosts director Matthew Heineman has won the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary at the Directors Guild Awards. 

Taking place on Sunday 4 February, the 70th annual awards honour the best directing achievements across feature, series and non-fiction to name a few. The award was Matthew's second win for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary which he won 2015 for Cartel Land.

Oscar®-nominated filmmaker Matthew Heineman follows up Cartel Land with another real-life international thriller. With deeply personal access, City of Ghosts is the story of a brave group of Syrian citizen journalists risking their lives to stand up against the Islamic State in Raqqa.
