Weiner opened in the US on Friday and became the strongest documentary opener of the year taking $85,525 in 5 cinemas. (Read more via IndieWire) The film had it's world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and took home the Grand Jury Prize for US Documentary. Since then it has been a festival favourite being selected at True/False, HotDocs and Full Frame just to name a few. The filmmakers Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg were recently awarded the David Carr Award for Truth in Non-Fiction Filmmaking at the Montclair Film Festival 2016.
