Aside from our documentary early rumours suggest that a biopic about the photographer is in the works, adapted from the memoir of rock star Patti Smith of their friendship, Ondi Timoner is set to direct with Matt Smith (Doctor Who) taking the lead role of Robert Mapplethorpe.
